Introverts are natural leaders as well
Personally speaking, I tend to be an introvert. I have led teams, and now as a coach, I consistently interact and bond with people🖇️ and what I have realized is that it’s all about striking a balance⚖️ about stepping outside your comfort zone.
It has been a long-held hypothesis that one needs to be an extrovert to be a successful leader.
Multiple studies and research papers 📃support this idea💡, and most leaders we see in the public eye exhibit outgoing social tendencies and extroverted personalities.🎤
But does that mean you “necessarily” need to be an extrovert to be a successful leader❓
I was intrigued when highly successful leaders viz Bill gates, Warren Buffet, and Jeff Bezos shared that their inherent tendencies are that of introverts.
That’s enough to challenge🤺 the popular myth. Isn’t it?
We have preconceived notions about the personality types that make good leaders. Contrary to this belief, I submit that many opinions aren’t valid! ❎
No one kind of personality is inherently better than all others, with each type having some advantages👍 and disadvantages👎 over the other types.
As a leader, one must sometimes work through one’s natural tendencies for the good of the team
From my experiences of myself and the multiple people I have worked with over the years, I have come to believe, that good leaders, don’t just fit into one mould ⏹️of being too loud 🔊or too quiet, but they are loud when they need to be, and quiet when their team needs them to be.
Essentially, good leaders adapt for teams to thrive.
When initially interacting with the team, being an extrovert tends to help break the group’s boundaries and provide social cohesion and positivity, but maintaining the same level can also lead to energy depletion, stress, and anxiety.
The purpose of why we, as leaders, are going out of our comfort zone is vital! 🎯
The purpose provides the possibility.
I ask again, don’t introverts make successful leaders?
Is it a Myth or reality?
