When A Couple Practices Mindfulness 1+1>2
A famous saying is “1+1> 2” when the synergies are positively aligned.
It is the story of a couple who traveled the mindfulness journey together. This coaching opportunity made me curious as you get to coach a couple rarely.
The challenges facing them also differed from the typical day-to-day professional challenges I often deal with.
Mahesh is a senior IT professional working for the largest auto manufacturing company. Mahesh had recently transitioned from being an individual contributor to a Team manager, which was a significant shift in role expectations. He was trying to learn and unlearn his core competencies. During this critical transition period, he suffered an unfathomable tragedy in his personal life when one of his elder brothers passed away due to post Covid medical 🧬complications. He was going through emotional turbulence that was happening in his life.
As we went along, however, he found that this program was a “blessing in disguise” for him. The fundamental impacts that the program helped him achieve were to:
✅ Practice Acceptance, Being able to accept the emotional experiences of any situation despite the difficulty. He was able to stabilize himself, in addition, he was able to support his grieving family.
✅ Cope with the tsunami🌊 of thoughts💭, Concerning the present and, more importantly, future events.
✅ Evolve his reaction to situations, Improved Awareness allowed him to pause and react in a measured way.
In his new role, these behaviors helped him to grow professionally at a rapid scale and make a powerful impression.
Now moving on to his better half, like many homemakers, the family takes precedence, and they devote energies to the betterment of their home🏡. Self-care is very rare. While working with Pavani, a positive outcome was immediately visible since this program was her first investment💰 in herself!
Post our program, Pavani did mention that she was –
✅Being self-compassionate💝, Pavani learned to be empathetic to oneself while working on transformation.
✅Better management of her thoughts💭, By staying in the moment rather than drifting to the future or the past
✅ More Aware of her “hypervigilant behavior🔍“, Pavani learned to recognize automatic behavioral patterns and consciously slowed down automatic reactions.
✅Being less judgemental ⚖️ and consciously choosing to stop coloring reality with her own beliefs.
Working with a couple was a welcome change.
Benefits were positively impacting the whole family.
➕Better understating of self and partner, led to a more evolved relationship.
➕Worked as a team, supporting each other in their journey
➕They were better equipped to handle life’s challenges
The saying “1+1 >2” applies to this couple ♀️♂️. Mahesh and Pavani learned the framework giving strength💪 to each other.
Positive energy ⚡radiates to the whole family, and children🧒 flourish🌸in such a home🏡.
Beautiful, isn’t it?
